Zitat: "Broadband will change the use of the Internet. It will deliver most of its economic
and social benefits through e-commerce, e-learning, healthcare, e-government,
teleworking, videoconfering and entertainment, in the form of increased productivity
and innovation, and better products and services. These benefits are difficult to
measure, but they are substantial. They do not accrue to operators’ revenues only,
but will spill over to society as well.
Furthermore, broadband has the capability to create an environment where
everyone can enjoy the same opportunities, irrespective of his geographic location.
Being available throughout Europe, broadband can contribute to bridge remaining
economic and social gaps that still exist."
